Connessione Art Exhibition - May 21st - June 1st at Kaapelitehdas

The exhibition presents eleven contemporary artists. The artists have a common background at Lapinlahti Art School, which operates in the inspiring Venetsia building. From there, each of them has at some point received in-depth guidance, support and inspiration for their own artistic story.

Artists are Mikko Bossa, Olli Freese, Nanna Fri, Oili Elina Jalkanen, Marja-Leena Kajander, Riitta Kaunisto, Leena Laukkanen, Eira Laulajainen, Juhani Lehtinen, Pia Rydman and Ulla Vesander.

The exhibition is the artists' statement in favor of connection in our polarized times. The name of the exhibition comes from Leonardo da Vinci's principles and the seventh step of art making, connessione. Art and culture have throughout history had the power to build connecting bridges and restore connection to ourselves and through that to each other.

The goal of the artists in the exhibition is to encourage us to see the world in new ways and build a bridge to the future. In this bold new exposure, art has a mission; to create a genuine connection that artificial intelligence cannot.

Exhibition design by graphic designer Erkki Mikola.
